We have 4 abbreviations that relate directly to defining what cross a dog is.

  • F1 means when breeding both parents are actually pure breed dogs Ex. F1 Cavoodle is a cavalier mum and a  poodle dad.

  • F2 means that the mother is a F1 and the father is a pure breed male of either breed . Ex.  F2 Schnoodle =  Mum is a Schnoodle and dad is either a poodle or schnauzer .they are then F2 Schnoodles.

  • F3 means the mother  is an F2 Labradoodle only and dad is a pure breed poodle for the pups to be F3 Labradoodles. (F3 is only relative to Labradoodles)

  • Multi generation  means both parents  are F3 Labradoodles or from Multi Generation parents them selves  these will be then called Multi generation pups.( Multi Generation is only relative to Labradoodles)

Notes:

Pure breed is a purebred bitch mated to a purebred dog of the same breed .

Most of our pure breed males and females are actually full pedigree or have been bred from pedigree females here at Freedom Kennels.

The Definition of pedigree is simple, being able to trace parental lines through pedigree papers .This doesn’t actually mean they are a better dog,  healthier or of sounder temperament or health.

Reference to a breeding dog is one that covers soundness in all areas NOT just looks like a great specimen of that breed.

Key issues are temperament and long term health .

In regards to mating a cross bred to a cross bred opens a very large can of worms .Ex: a Cavoodle x Cavoodle does not mean it will look any thing like a Cavoodle from here . Some might and some will definitely look  different for example a short coat scruffy etc. We will be interested in more photos of such as we have a few now for comparisons etc .
